Compare the whole journey: your hotel, the terminal, the trip itself and the last connection. Then choose the transport that suits your time and comfort.
Giant Ibis publishes the following estimates. They describe its coach routes, not guaranteed door-to-door travel times. Add check-in, terminal transfers and connection margins.
Operator estimates checked 25 October 2026; check dates and fares directly
The estimate does not include a ferry or the transfer to its check-in point.
Use the operator’s booking form for your exact date, fare, luggage conditions and boarding point. Not every departure offers the same pickup arrangements.
Choose by the journey you want.
Coach or minivan
A useful choice for travellers who prefer a ground journey and can work around fixed departures. Compare seat type, air conditioning, stops, luggage, child arrangements and exact terminal locations. A night departure changes both sleep and arrival plans.
Private car
Useful for families, shared groups, luggage and planned stops. Request the full price per vehicle, vehicle type, seat belts, any child seat, tolls and pickup/drop-off addresses. Agree stops and waiting time before departure.
Domestic flight
Compare airport-to-airport travel with the complete hotel-to-hotel alternative. Include baggage, check-in, transfers and the cost of a missed onward connection. Confirm that the flight operates on your intended day before arranging activities around it.
Often the easiest improvement is staying longer. Use Phnom Penh and Siem Reap for a first week, then add a southern or eastern base when your time allows. Avoid fitting a distant excursion into a transfer day.
Phnom Penh uses Techo International Airport (KTI). The airport lists standard taxis and Grab, WowNow and PassApp, with an approximate US$10–20 fare depending on destination. Use the actual app quote or confirm a taxi fare at the official counter.
Phnom Penh City Bus lists an Airport Express Bus at 1,500 riel per person, with 10–15-minute waits. Official pages differ about the evening finish, so reconfirm the last departure and plan the onward journey from the city stop. A hotel transfer can be easier for a family or late arrival.
Choose accommodation first and ask which pier serves it.
Match that answer to the ferry operator’s destination and check-in location.
Allow for the road journey, a transfer to the mainland pier and boat check-in.
Confirm any transfer from the island landing to your room, including price and luggage.
Reconfirm the return sailing and keep your last night before an international flight on the mainland when practical.
GTVC and Island Speed Ferry offer direct operator booking routes. GTVC lists its mainland address at Tourism Pier, Preah Sihanoukville; confirm the location printed on your own ticket. Sailings, stops and weather arrangements vary.
Royal Railway lists northern passenger services towards Pursat and Battambang and southern services towards Takeo, Kep, Kampot and Sihanoukville. Use the railway’s current booking information for operating days, departure times, ticket classes and fares.
A slower journey may be part of the holiday, but do not assume a train runs daily or that the station is beside your hotel. Railway office hours are not a departure timetable.
