A traveller sharing a room and staying four nights in one place has a different budget from someone travelling alone and changing hotels every day. Count hotel nights, not just calendar days, and separate per-room, per-person and per-vehicle costs.
Your Cambodia budget
The starting figures are an editable planning example, not current market averages or a quote. The ticket example allows one US$37 Angkor day. Replace every allowance with your own prices, including taxes and fees. Nights = trip days minus one.

Compare dorms with simple private rooms, group activities with private outings, and daytime coaches with the complete cost of flying. An extra night in one base can be more rewarding than another paid transfer.
Prioritise a well-located room, air conditioning, a pool if you will use it, and a sensible transfer plan. Check breakfast, cancellation, taxes and room capacity before deciding that one nightly rate is cheaper.
Request a written quote for your children’s actual ages, beds and meals. A family room may price differently from two standard rooms. Include transfers large enough for everyone and their luggage.
Compare what the stay includes: transfers, meals, activities, guides and service charges. A remote lodge or private-island stay needs a different calculation from a city room.
Hotels: compare the final payable amount for the same dates, room type, number of guests and cancellation terms.
Transport: allow for reaching the bus terminal, ferry pier or airport, plus the onward journey at the other end.
Islands: check whether ferry tickets, resort boats and pier-to-hotel transfers are included.
Dining: ask whether menu prices include VAT and service. A “++” price needs clarification before you order.
Activities: separate admission from a guide, equipment, vehicle and meals. Check deposits and cancellation terms.
Cash: read ATM fees before confirming and check your own bank’s overseas charges.
Once you have quotes, replace the calculator’s allowances. Keep a contingency rather than using every dollar on a tightly connected itinerary.
Budget questions.
Is the calculator a live quotation?
No. It performs arithmetic on the prices you enter. Its starting amounts are labelled examples; only the separately sourced figures above are checked published costs.
How do I budget for 10 days?
Start with nine hotel nights, ten days of food and local travel, then each airport/intercity transfer and ticket. Add international flights, entry costs and insurance separately. Follow our ten-day route to identify the journeys.
Should I add Angkor tickets to an all-inclusive daily average?
Check what the average already includes. Do not add the same hotel, meals or activities twice. Building from individual quotes makes the assumptions easier to see.
